Not too long ago it was just a pit in the ground, but at last the new UTS Engineering and IT building has opened up to students. Hijacked went along for the ride to check out the building and snap some shots.

Sitting right next to the main UTS building on George St in Haymarket, the new building features a slick rusted steel and concrete interior and metal-plated exterior design. It offers a huge opportunity for students: UTS seems to be taking a new approach to learning as a whole, and it’s reflected in the building’s architecture. All the rooms are focussed on collaboration to some degree, stepping away from the old model of lecturers talking at students. Click through the gallery below to view some of the highlights.
